Severn to Sahara contents:
The major news as we head into February is the announcement of Challenge Three as part of the training for Severn to Sahara. A bit of a low-down:
As part of the the training for Severn to Sahara, I have decided to take on the UK Three Peaks Challenge. This challenge has never really tempted me before because of the huge stints of driving between the three mountains - for me, the challenge of 24 hours continuous running around the Bob Graham Round was a much purer mountain running challenge.
So, to get around the motorway aspect of the challenge, I've decided to join up the peaks by bicycle and turn this into a long distance multisport challenge - much more like it!
I plan to start at sea level and return to sea level between each peak, before again returning to sea level to finish the challenge - a bit of a purists take on things but otherwise I wasn't too sure about when to start and stop the clock! To continue with the three theme, I'll be adding a third wheel by using my trailer to lug kit and have given myself three days, 72 hours, from sea level to sea level. Currently planned for early summer - watch this space for further training updates!
Other news is that I have managed to start logging some proper running miles in the build up to the Bath Half Marathon next month and the London Marathon in April. We've had snow in Bristol in early February so the training has been particularly cold - a good incentive to run a bit faster!
The ExtraWheel trailer has arrived! I've taken it out around the Mendips and it's great! You can really forget it's there altogether - on-road and off-road it follows really well and is suprisingly light. I'm impressed!
